Page 1 of 2 My wife and I thought about an idea over a year ago and decided the Internet would be a better place, if there were people, who were willing to devote their time to create quality website content for others. I never gave this much thought, working as a restaurant manager at Dickey’s BBQ in Corsicana, during the spring of 2005. My wife, Becky, had been working at CB Richard Ellis, the largest commercial real estate firm in the world, for almost 8 years, and the commute to Dallas everyday was starting to take its toll on her. That fall, gas prices shot up, and it seemed the commute was no longer worth the money being spent every week. I had already quit my job at the restaurant and was struggling to find something that would actually make me happy. I graduated from SMU back in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, but never really figured out what I wanted to do with my life. Psychology had always been a passion of mine, but writing was something my heart cherished even more. Unfortunately, I never believed that my words could make a difference in someone else’s life, let alone earn any type of money, so the writing idea was trashed, and I was left wondering, if I had majored in the right subject. Lucky for me, Becky had a good business head and discussed the idea of running our own creative writing shop out of our home. |
